About Belton

I am Frederick Adolph Belton,  a college math instructor living in Nashville, Tennessee. This blog is dedicated to my favorite activities, travel and volcano chasing.   I prefer active adventure-type trips and usually “do it myself” if at all possible rather than joining organized tours. In years past I have made a couple of three-year trips around the world and have organized and led volcano safaris in Africa. Although many of my trips are solo efforts, I also travel with my wife, Debby, who is somewhat less into “adventure” mode in recent years but has made some very challenging trips in the past. Her work has recently taken her to such places as Egypt, Yemen, Ukraine, and China.

The purpose of this blog is to allow friends and relatives to keep up with my travels and to provide a location for messages relating to my volcano wiki at www.oldoinyolengai.pbworks.com.

The theme photo above is of Hornbjarg on the Hornstrandir Peninsula in NW Iceland as it was in summer 1994.  A trek across Hornstrandir is adventure travel at its best.
